My first 30 days at Unanet: momentum, opportunity, and the road ahead

New Unanet CMO Alex Gobbi reflects on her first 30 days at Unanet - and what lies ahead in the future.

When I stepped into my role at Unanet just a month ago, I expected to find a company with great technology, a loyal customer base, and a dedicated team. What I didn’t fully anticipate was the depth of innovation, the genuine passion of our people, and the sheer scale of the opportunity before us.

Thirty days in, I can confidently say: Unanet is built for this moment.

The product-market opportunity: a purpose-built advantage

Over the past several years, Unanet has strengthened its portfolio through thoughtful acquisitions and focused innovation. The result is a rich set of capabilities that remain true to our mission: delivering purpose-built solutions that empower project-based businesses to grow and manage their investments in people and products.

What sets us apart isn’t just the features in our software. It’s how deeply they align with the realities of our customers’ industries. Our solutions don’t just “check boxes” on requirements; they anticipate needs. They deliver real-time insights, adapt to industry-specific workflows, and are intuitive for everyone from executives to project managers to and individual contributors.

In my first conversations with customers, I’ve been struck by how often I hear a simple refrain:

“We love Unanet because it just works—for us.”

That love doesn’t come from flashy features; it comes from reliability, relevance, and results.

Why now: the urgency of our mission

As our flagship industry reports - the GAUGE Report and the AEC Inspire Report - point out, our customers are navigating a business environment that feels more complex by the day. It’s characterized by uncertainty, contract requirements, new compliance mandates, exploding data volumes, unpredictable subcontractor needs, pricing pressures and – let’s be honest – fewer hours in the day to keep up.

In this context, “someday” solutions don’t cut it. Our customers can’t afford to wait for what’s next. They need answers now. That’s why we’re accelerating our investments in artificial intelligence as a force multiplier for decision-making.

Imagine:

  • Real-time access to contract opportunities for our government contractor customers with GovIntel
  • Real time matching against your capabilities and past performance with OpportuneAI to qualify faster, coupled with fast drafting of compliant, high-quality proposals with Unanet ProposalAI.
  • Pipeline and opportunity management to simplify complex pursuits with Unanet CRM
  • Insights into capacity and cost structures to develop reliable forecasts and anticipate investment needs
  • Optimized resource planning and project management with automated insights for gaps, bottlenecks, and key milestones
  • Built-in security and guardrails to reduce risk and transform compliance from a stress to a strength

These are capabilities we’re actively building so we can be the trusted source for rapid decision-making in an era of uncertainty. Our north star is clear: help customers grow smarter and more profitably, even when the path ahead is unpredictable.

The team: smart, humble, and all-in

Technology alone can’t create impact. It requires people to drive meaningful change and positive outcomes. And here at Unanet, we have some of the smartest and most humble individuals I’ve worked with in my career.

Across every function – product, engineering, sales, customer success, the people team – I’ve seen a shared commitment to solving hard problems and delivering measurable value. What’s remarkable is not just the expertise, but the attitude: a willingness to listen, to learn, and to collaborate without ego.

Our culture isn’t a set of cliches but rather a set of values we embody every day:

  • We are customer-focused. Every decision starts with the question: How will this help our customers succeed?
  • We are driven. We set ambitious goals and keep raising the bar.
  • We own our success. Every team member takes responsibility for outcomes, not just outputs.
  • We do the right thing. Integrity guides our choices, even when it’s the harder path. And we make it fun.
  • We are a team. We’re focused on our shared mission with customers, partners and colleagues.

These values show up in meetings, in customer calls, and in product decisions. They are the foundation for everything we build and deliver.

The marketing team: a privilege to lead

One of the great joys of my first month was getting to know the Unanet marketing team. They’re among the most experienced professionals I’ve encountered – strategic thinkers who also roll up their sleeves without hesitation.

Even better, they’re hungry to grow. They’re open to new ideas, willing to challenge themselves, and committed to helping Unanet tell its story in ways that inspire action. Leading this group is both a privilege and a responsibility I take seriously.

Together, we’re already shaping campaigns that will not only highlight our product capabilities but also showcase the real impact of our work: how Unanet helps customers do more with less, navigate uncertainty, and deliver on their own missions.

What’s ahead: building momentum

My first 30 days were about listening, learning, and connecting. The next 90 – and beyond – will be about action.

Here’s what’s on the horizon:

  • Deepening relationships with partners like BDO, whose collaboration extends our reach and enriches our offerings.
  • Meeting more of our customers – in person, online, and at industry events – to hear their challenges firsthand and ensure we’re building what they need next.
  • Launching growth campaigns and programs that combine the best of our marketing expertise with the power of our product innovation.
  • Bringing exciting new offerings to market that accelerate the value customers get from Unanet.

And this is just the beginning. The momentum we build in the coming months will set the tone for years to come.

A final reflection: gratitude and resolve

A month isn’t a long time, but it’s been enough for me to see that Unanet has all the ingredients for extraordinary impact:

  • A product portfolio uniquely positioned for today’s challenges.
  • Customers who believe in us because we deliver for them.
  • A team whose talent is matched only by its humility.
  • A culture that keeps us grounded, focused, and aligned.

I’m grateful for the warm welcome, the candid conversations, and the shared excitement for what’s ahead. More importantly, I’m resolved to make sure that when we look back at this moment in Unanet’s history, we see it as the inflection point when our growth accelerated, our impact deepened, and our role as a trusted partner became undeniable.

Here’s to the journey ahead. Let’s make it remarkable.
